New Orleans By Night
Marie Laveau is a voodoo queen and Setite necromancer. Little hard evidence is known of her aside from myths. Her homeplace is the country of Haiti, formed by a slave revolution. She likely emigrated to New Orleans between 1804 and 1809, along with the many free people of color, when Saint-Dominique had its revolution. Laveau is very close to the perhaps mythical Antedeluvian Set in blood. She is definitely of low generation, either fifth or sixth. Her company, DNA (Dynasty New Almalgamates) is a subsidiary of the multinational company called Pentex. Marie Laveau’s current plans (besides taking revenge on the player characters) are unknown, but likely involve strengthening the Setite position in New Orleans or even finding the resting place of her clan founder.
Ten years ago, she tried to sacrifice enough humans, with the aid of a mortal mage (Blackthorn) to send her spirit back in time to the Second City to aid Set against the other Antedeluvians. She believed she had a piece of the Book of Nod on stone tablet that was made during this period. The Tremere John Mandrake claimed that no one can go back in time magically. But then, the Camarilla party line is also that there is no such thing as Antedeluvians, mythical godlike vampires who lived before the flood. In any case, her mad plan was stopped and the toll of human life held to a minimum. The local Prince used a terrorist attack on the New Orleans Airport as a cover story to hide the truth.
